Deaffirst™ is a responsive and Deaf-friendly funeral cover and support service for Deaf people, their families, and the broader community.
Rooted in an understanding of Deaf culture, South African Sign Language (SASL), and accessible communication, Deaffirst™ places Deaf people at the centre of the funeral experience.
The objective of the Deaffirst™ Programme is simple: to put Deaf people first.
Our services are tailored to affirm and respect the unique identity, language, culture, and lived experiences of Deaf people. We recognise and value the importance of visual communication, expressive Sign Language, and the sense of belonging within the Deaf community.
Deaffirst™ provides compassionate and accessible support during times of loss, ensuring that Deaf people and families are able to participate fully, communicate comfortably, and honour their loved ones with dignity. For a final dignified send-off of a loved one, Deaffirst™ puts Deaf people back in control.
