Video Remote Communications (Virecom)

Virecom is one of SANDA’s flagship ICT innovations, established in 2015 to advance communication accessibility for Deaf people. 
 
Virecom provides real-time, on-demand South African Sign Language (SASL) interpreting through a secure digital Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) platform, as well as in-person interpreting support where required. 
 
By removing communication barriers in real time, Virecom enables Deaf people to access essential services, information, education, healthcare, safety, business, and public participation opportunities more independently, confidently, and effectively. In doing so, Virecom unlocks far-reaching social, economic, and accessibility benefits for Deaf people, service providers, government, business, and society at large.
