The organisation complements the work of government and provides a good basis for partnership particularly in relation to programmes in advocacy, awareness and public education; Deaf education, skills development and scholarship, economic empowerment; ICT; Deaf women and Deaf youth development programmes as well as mainstreaming of Deaf people in society.

Our key objectives

At its core, SANDA is the human rights and advocacy organisation of, by and for Deaf people, as such, its core business is advocacy which is carried out under the following key objectives:

Advocacy, Awareness and Public EducationImproved rigorous advocacy, awareness and public education campaigns and capacity to contribute towards an accessible society.
Economic Empowerment and Sustainable EmploymentIncreased participation of Deaf people as entrepreneurs in the economic activities of the economy.
Knowledge Management and ResearchIn-depth substantive and analytical research, commissioned or self-initiated, and application of knowledge that address Deaf issues and the needs of society.
Education, Skills development and ScholarshipA strengthened skills and human resources base of Deaf people through skills development and scholarship.

Inclusive education that promotes human rights, social justice, access, equity and redress of Deaf people.
Information Communication & Technology (ICT)Increased universal access and services to ICTs of Deaf people across all sectors of society.
Membership development and NetworkingA growing membership mass-based organisation of Deaf people able to attract and retain and advocate the interests of its members.
